Category Archives: Spiritual Availability & Growth

Spiritual availability means a willingness to place greater value on focusing on our life purpose instead of obsessing over the person who broke our hearts.

In the famous biblical book of wisdom, Proverbs 17:22 heralds, “A merry heart is good medicine, and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” We often need to realize that repeating the same relationship patterns will lead to us having a broken spirit and reinforces negative perceptions about ourselves (e.g., our self-worth).

This category is about focusing on “the bigger picture”: self-actualizing (i.e., discovering and fulfilling your purpose), altruism (helping and giving to others), and transcending our painful life and relationship patterns by thriving in adversity instead of merely surviving.

Transcending the pain and trauma means shifting the focus from others (e.g., the person who can’t and won’t love you back, the guy or gal who mistreated us in a relationship, the one who cheated on us and lied and deceived us) to ourselves. We need to dig deeper to heal by training ourselves to focus on the people, things that matter in our lives, and our Higher Power.

When we obsess over a man or woman, we inadvertently participate in People Worship- a form of idolatry. Focusing on our spiritual availability can open the portal to rebuilding our spirit and life so that no man or woman has that high level of influence over our happiness- to completely devastate us. This is a big No-No!

Cheers to working from the inside out, getting better, being better, and staying better! I hope you enjoy these articles.
